Onesmus is a Legal Assistant at Birungyi, Barata and Associates specializing in Tax, Land Conveyance, Commercial and Corporate Advisory. He is also part of the Research Department in the firm.

Onesmus has gained valuable exposure in tax advisory, litigation and commercial transactional work among others. He is currently assisting the team defending a client’s right to ownership of land by way of bonafide occupancy, land worth over UGX 800,000,000. His role on the team is research, prepare court documents and provide general advisory. He has also worked alongside a team that has advised one of the biggest SACCOs in the country in its restructuring. In particular advising it on its management structure, its corporate governance structure, and regulatory compliance issues..

Onesmus is quickly gaining experience across the labour industry. In particular, employment disputes where his work among others is to find amicable solutions to employment disputes without recourse to court, restructuring of microfinance businesses to make them a more regulatory complaint, advising companies and organizations on regulatory compliance and effecting land transfers among others.

Onesmus is passionate about research and often involved in preparation of research material which includes legal opinions for clients and research papers across several fields. Outside the office, he is a passionate and ardent debater
